Baltics. Latvia. Riga Market.

Riga Central Market

is the biggest in Europe. It consists of 4 large pavilions: fish, meat, dairy and vegetable. Surprisingly, but the vast majority of sellers are the Russians.

I started the inspection with the fish pavilion. Right at the entrance I found the boxes with red caviar. It is pressed out from the fish and sold directly in such sausages:

Lamprey (left) and Tench (right) are well presented on the market:

Naturally, there is a lot of Salmon:

And of course, there are a lot of sprats:

Dried fish is sold in whole buckets:

Meat pavilion is less interesting:

In the dairy pavilion I was interested only in the tray with honey:

Everything ended with fruits and vegetables:

Frankly speaking, I was disappointed with the market. Apparently, I had high expectations after reading this advertisement:

Riga Market

impresses with its size, smell, cleanliness, and exchange to the centime. Necessary purchase: smoked chicken, deli meats, smoked fish, black bread, honey, fresh pot cheese, cheese. In summer - berries: strawberries, blueberries, raspberries... I saw there nothing like this - just a common market. Not the cleanest one and its range can not be compared with others (except the fish pavilion).
