At 8 am we arrived in

Dubrovnik

(Croatia).

And even closer:

And this is a view to the right:

We were brought ashore by boat. We didn't have visas and were told to take our passports to put an entry and exit visa on it but no one checked us and put anything in our passports.
Old Dubrovnik is walled. We are going to the exit along this street (

Stradun

) toward the observation deck.

And we are taking pictures on our way:

And we leave the Old Town through this gate:

The Old Town is left behind the wall:

On our way to the observation deck.
Dubrovnik got its name thanks to the oak forests that grow here ("dubrava" means "oak grove" in Croatian). Previously, the city was an independent republic with its own fleet and money and it was called Ragusa.
Now it is the most expensive and the most visited city in Croatia.
We arrived at the observation deck.

Here's a view to the right. You can see the tower on

mountain Srđ.

During our free time, we climbed this mountain!

And here is a closer view:

After admiring the views we went back to the Old Town, surrounded by a wall:

Then we had a sightseeing tour inside the ramparts and around the Old Town.
We went to the Franciscan Monastery.

Dubrovnik has plenty of steps. It consists of mainly narrow streets and endless steps.

Also, there are dogs in Dubrovnik:

Then we went to the Dominican Monastery:

And here we are on the streets of the city.
As in any other city, it's full of pigeons. They have chosen this fountain to drink from.

Then we were given free time. In the last picture, you can see the tower on the mountain. We are going there!
