Dorian Becomes a Hurricane and Causes New Cruise Itinerary Changes

Dorian was upgraded to a hurricane. Royal Caribbean International and Carnival Cruise Line announced

Royal Caribbean modified itineraries of three more cruise ships.

Navigator of the Seas departed on August 26 from Miami. On August 28, the ship spent another day in Nassau instead of calling at the port of CocoCay. The liner’s 8/30/19 cruise won’t visit the cruise line’s private port but will have a day at sea.

Mariner of the Seas departed from Port Canaveral on August 26. The ship will spend Thursday in Nassau instead of visiting CocoCay. The vessel’s 8/30/19 cruise won’t visit the RCI’s private island but will spend a day at sea.

Empress of the Seas departed on August 24 from Miami. She will now stay overnight in Cozumel and have a day at sea on Saturday instead of calling at the port of CocoCay.

Symphony of the Seas departed on August 24 from Miami. The liner will visit Nassau instead of CocoCay. 
By the way, this itinerary has already been modified to avoid the path of Dorian, as well as other sailings of Royal Caribbean and Disney Cruise Line.

We remind you that RCI decided to close the Perfect Day at CocoCay until September 4 (you can check more information via this link).

Carnival Cruise Line changed itineraries of two more ships.

Carnival Magic departed from Fort Lauderdale on August 25. The ship won’t call at Amber Cove as was scheduled but will visit Nassau on August 30.

Carnival Sensation will depart from Miami on August 31. She will visit all the planned ports but in a modified order.

On August 28, Dorian intensified to a hurricane. It hit St. ThomasPuerto Rico escaped the worst effects of Dorian.
Florida governor declared a state of emergency ahead Dorian.

As Hurricane Dorian continues to threaten the Caribbean, cruise lines announce more itinerary changes.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN INTERNATIONAL
  • Navigator of the Seas 8/30/2019 cruise will be extended and will return to Miami on 9/04/2019. As a result, the ship's 9/02/2019 sailing will depart on 9/04/2019 and will be shortened.
  • Mariner of the Seas 8/30/2019 cruise will be extended and will return to Port Canaveral on 9/04/19. As a result, the ship's 9/02/2019 sailing will depart on 9/04/2019 and will be shortened.
  • Empress of the Seas 8/24/2019 cruise will be extended and will return to Miami on 9/04/19. As a result, the ship's 9/01/2019 sailing will depart on 9/04/2019 and will be shortened.
  • Symphony of the Seas 8/24/2019 sailing will be extended and will return to Miami on 9/04/19.
  • Harmony of the Seas 8/25/2019 sailing will be extended and will return to Port Canaveral on 09/04/19. As a result, the ship's 9/01/2019 sailing will depart on 9/04/2019 and will be shortened.
  • Allure of the Seas 8/25/2019 sailing will be extended and will return to Fort Lauderdale on 09/04/19. As a result, the ship's 9/01/2019 sailing will depart on 9/04/2019 and will be shortened.
  • Majesty of the Seas 8/28/2019 sailing will be extended and will return to Fort Lauderdale on 09/04/19. As a result, the ship's 9/02/2019 sailing will depart on 9/04/2019 and will be shortened.
CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE
  • Carnival Sunshine 08/29/2019 sailing was modified. The ship will visit Key West instead of Princess Cays.
  • Carnival Liberty 8/30/2019 sailing will depart as planned but a visit to Nassau will be shortened.
  • Carnival Victory 8/30/2019 sailing was modified. The ship will visit Key West instead of Nassau.
  • Carnival Paradise will depart earlier on 8/31/2019 sailing. The ship will sail on a scheduled itinerary.
  • Carnival Miracle will depart on 8/31/2019 instead of 9/01/2019. The ship will sail on a scheduled itinerary.
DISNEY CRUISE LINE
  • Disney Dream 8/30/2019 sailing will be extended and will return to Port Canaveral on 9/04/2019. As a result, the ship's 9/02/2019 sailing will depart on 9/04/2019 and will be shortened.
NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE
  • Norwegian Sky departed from Miami on 8/26/2019. The ship won't visit Great Stirrup Cay but will return to Miami a day early, on 8/30/2019.
  • Norwegian Sun departed from Port Canaveral on 8/29/2019. The ship won't call at the ports of Nassau, Great Stirrup Cay, and Freeport. Instead, she'll have a day at sea, stop at the port of Cozumel, and another day at sea.
  • Norwegian Breakaway departed from Miami on 8/25/2019. She plans to extend her time in the port of Cozumel until 9/01/2019 and depart at 05.00 PM.
BAHAMAS PARADISE CRUISE LINE
  • Grand Celebration 9/01/2019 and 9/03/2019 departures were canceled.
MSC CRUISES
  • MSC Seaside will return to Miami a day early, on 9/30/2019. Then the ship will sail to a safe area.

UPDATE (9/02/2019 03.30 AM EDT)

Port Canaveral was closed on Saturday.
PortMiami was closed on Sunday until further notice.

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE
  • Carnival Sensation 08/31/19 sailing was modified. She will call at the ports of Grand Turk and Amber Cove instead of Half Moon Cay and Nassau.
  • Carnival Ecstasy 08/31/19 sailing was modified. The ship will visit Key West instead of Princess Cays.
  • Carnival Pride 09/01/19 sailing was modified. She will call at the ports of Grand Turk and Amber Cove instead of Half Moon Cay and Freeport.
  • Carnival Horizon 9/01/2019 sailing was delayed until 9/04/2019 and shortened.
  • Carnival Sunshine 09/02/19 sailing was modified. She won't visit Half Moon Cay.
  • Carnival Liberty 9/02/2019 sailing is canceled.
  • Carnival Elation 9/02/2019 sailing was delayed until 9/06/2019 and shortened.
  • Carnival Victory 9/02/2019 sailing was delayed until 9/04/2019 and shortened.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN INTERNATIONAL
  • Symphony of the Seas 8/24/19 sailing returned to Miami on 8/31/2019 as planned. The ship's 8/31/19 sailing will be extended and will return on 9/04/2019. As a result, her 9/03/19 cruise will depart 9/04/2019 and will be shortened.

NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE
  • Norwegian Breakaway 8/25/2019 sailing was extended. The cruise will conclude on 9/03/2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Norwegian Breakaway 9/01/2019 sailing was canceled. 
  • Norwegian Sun 8/29/2019 sailing was extended and will conclude on 9/03/2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Norwegian Sun 9/02/2019 sailing was canceled.
MSC CRUISES
  • MSC Armonia 8/26 sailing was extended and will return to Miami on 9/04/2019. As a result, the ship's 9/02/2019 sailing was delayed until 9/04/2019 and shortened.

  • Carnival Liberty 8/30/19 sailing was extended and will return to Port Canaveral on 9/05/2019. The ship’s modified itinerary includes stops at Nassau, Costa Maya, and Cozumel.
  • Carnival Victory 8/30/19 sailing was extended and will return to Miami on 9/04/2019. The ship’s modified itinerary includes stops at Key West and Cozumel.
  • Norwegian Sky departed from Miami on 8/31/2019. The ship’s scheduled stops at the ports of Freeport, Nassau, and Great Stirrup Cay were changed to Key West and Cozumel.
  • Mariner of the Seas  9/02/2019 sailing was canceled.
  • Grand Celebration 9/05/2019 sailing was canceled.
After causing horrible devastation in the Bahamas, Hurricane Dorian started to move toward the U.S.
