Hammamet in Tunisia is the oldest touristic center in the country. All resorts in Tunis have wonderful parks but even among them, Hammamet stands out with its luxurious gardens. The main principle of town planning here - houses must not be higher than cypresses. The city is founded about 5 centuries ago. There are the fortress walls and the Big Mosque are still preserved in it. The city keeps its one-floor image. Tourists are waited here by wide sandy beaches, a plenty of bars, restaurants, stores, markets.
Around Hammamet, suburbs are being built as migrants from the southern region of the country come to find employment. As a popular tourist destination, the city is economically important to Tunisia.
The 2005 World Scout Conference was held in Hammamet.

The climate is very much like the climate in Sousse it borders a Hot-summer Mediterranean climate (Csa) and a Hot semi-arid climate (BSh) due to such dry ground and hot temperatures in the summer.
Go to the beach. Hammamet Sud has some surprisingly clear water with lots of water sports to enjoy, including paragliding, jet-skiing, tubing, short camel-rides along the beach, baking, etc. etc. Very touristy, lots of topless ladies of age. Lots of small fish swimming right by the shore.
A plenty of restaurants to enjoy delicious meals.
Try some of the local wine, which is hard to get in restaurants in Tunis.

Today's cruise day stood somewhat apart - if all the other days we spend in the European countries, now we go to Africa. I had never been before to Africa, so I was waiting for this first meeting with anxiety and some excitement. Of course, Tunisia - it's not Central African countries, not... |
Tunis
was the only port that we did not explore on our own, but signed up for a tour. On our ship there were 500 compatriots and 4 accompanying persons from the Neptune tour company - the largest cruise operator in Russia.
