3 minutes read • December 7th, 2017
December 6 became a significant day in the history of Holland America Line. Yesterday,

, the company’s upcoming cruise ship, has finally got her lucky coin!

The ceremony took place in Marghera, Italy, at the Fincantieri’s shipyard. Next step will be taken already on December 21, when the HAL’s cruise ship under construction will be floated out.
MS Nieuw Statendam will join her sister MS Koningsdam in the cruise line’s Pinnacle-class of cruise ships. She’ll have a tonnage of 99,500 tons and a capacity of 2,660 travelers. She’ll feature all of her sister’s hallmarks, as well as other innovative amenities.
The ship will be delivered in Venice on December 1, 2018. She’s scheduled to depart on her Premier Voyage from Civitavecchia (Rome) on December 5. It will be a 14 Day Transatlantic crossing towards Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Then she’s going to spend winter taking her guests on exciting Caribbean sailings.

We’d like to mention that bookings for the inaugural Caribbean season of Nieuw Statendam are already open! It would be great to be among the first cruise lovers to sail on this ground-breaking ship!
By the way, the third representative of the Pinnacle-class is expected to join her family in 2021.

Meanwhile, let’s check this video about Nieuw Statendam!
