We continue traveling around

Mallorca

. First, we went to the town of Arta - we passed it by for several times before and we were attracted by the view from the road of Santuari de Sant Salvador and of the church located next to it - Transfiguracio del Senyor.

We parked at the bottom, in the town, near the main square - and quietly went towards our goal on foot.

Here's a very popular transport in

Mallorca

- bicycles!

We are going further.

And here is the church.
It was built in the 13th century on the basis of a Muslim mosque. Gothic facade was erected a little later, in the 16th century.

The church was closed.
And here is the famous Via Crucis - "The Way of the Cross" with its 180!!! steps leading to Santuari de Sant Salvador.
There are cypresses on both sides and it's nice to walk in the shadow...

Here are views from there.

At the top of the hill, there is a fortress built in the 14th century. The fortress is surrounded by a wall and in the 15th century, it served  for local people as a safe hiding place from pirates. Around - there are beautiful views, everything is very green, in particular, because of the good irrigation system, which has remained since the times of the Moors (well, at least something good has been left after them...).

And here's Santuari de Sant Salvador (I do not know, why it's called so, it looks like a monastery).

And here are some pictures of the town of Arta again.

In several kilometers from Arta, there is Capdepera.
The town of Capdepera was built around a medieval castle (

Castle of Capdepera

), which is located on a hill (160 meters above sea level). And because there is the plain around it, views from the castle are excellent.

We parked not quite near the castle, but a little lower - we had to walk up the hill), but the weather was nice, so the walk was pleasing.
Here are trees near the parking lot - what it is? Is this a fig tree? Or just something similar to it?

We are going to the top of the hill...
