Osaka. Dotombori And Amerikamura

Nefer • 5 minutes read • October 11th, 2016
Minami district has a narrow street called

Dotombori

. There are a lot of small restaurants, cafes, shops, and hotels. And there is the famous entertainment area called

Amerikamura

. Swanky boys and dressed up girls gather here in the evening to hang out in bars and clubs.

I wonder what it is? I don't read in Japanese, but I have two assumptions: this can be a love-hotel or a capsule hotel. Or maybe some erotic services firm, one of which we saw in Tokyo.

Is this a pet store?

Here's the Ferris wheel of the original form.

I have tried Okonomiyaki on Miyajima. Not bad, but it's not for me. Anyway, I didn't have the desire to repeat that experience. I like only sushi and onigiri in Japanese cuisine. And perhaps Yakitori.

Here's one of Dotonbori symbols. It glows in the evening.

Osaka

is the city of takoyaki. This dish is also not for me.

There's Tsutaya store on the right, and on the left, you can see Kani Doraku restaurant with a giant moving crab on the facade.

Here's clown Kuidaore Ningyo.
13osaka-dotombori-and-amerikamura.jpg
And here's Zubora-ya fish glowing at night.

And this is the covered shopping arcade called Sen'Nichimae. There are several of them, there are also Shinsaibashi-suji and Ebisubashi-suji.

We are going further.

And here we are on the other side of Midosuji boulevard. Here's such a curious lantern:)

This is Amerikamura, the locals also call it shortly Ame-mura. Previously there was a giant clown face on Tom's House shop. Now there's just a modest figure standing at the entrance.

Here are American cars.
25osaka-dotombori-and-amerikamura.jpg26osaka-dotombori-and-amerikamura.jpg
And here's takoyaki again.
27osaka-dotombori-and-amerikamura.jpg
I found such funny slippers.

Evening came quietly. We returned to Dotonbori. While walking, we met such colorful characters! Boys with trendy hairstyles, dressed in the style of Visual kei, each of them is picture perfect! I really wanted to take photos of them, but I was too shy. All signs are glowing, displays are flickering, there were already more people, and some excitement could be felt on the streets.

We found kaiten-sushi and decided to have dinner. I like such sushi conveyor, where you see what you will eat and you can choose on your own, and do not explain to the waiter. And the prices are clear. But we had to wait for a vacant place for long. The cafe was full.

There's soy sauce on the left, and there's Japanese tea in jars with green and purple lids. It is a green powder that must be dissolved in water.

Satisfied and happy, we decided to walk along Dotonbori. Running athlete Glico Man advertises sweets of the Japanese firm called Glico. Initially, the neon man was set in 1935.

We went to the store - a five-story house selling all sorts of things at low prices. I've visited the store like this in Tokyo. I bought there a USB flash drive for the camera, as my three ones were already not enough, and collagen water.

Then we went to some bar. We were drinking Japanese beer and chatting there. I was surprised by snacks in this bar: skewers of chicken soft tendon, fresh peas, and pickled eggplant with mustard.
