Spain. Cartagena From A Height

Capi4ca • 4 minutes read • May 23rd, 2016
Somewhat recently, in 1987, the

Roman theater

was found in

Cartagena

. Its period of construction goes back to the 1st century BC. It is simply impossible to imagine!

Roman theater, or rather what remains of it and is being restored, is located near the port, from which we are going. At first, we saw the ruins of the theater at the bottom. We photographed it from behind the fence.

We went further, trying to climb to the top. Everything is fenced.
We saw this on the wall of one of the houses.

There are ruins of the old Cartagena Cathedral -

Cathedral of St. Mary

on the right side, adjacent directly to the theater.

Finally, we found the stairs and began to climb.

We climbed the stairs. You can see the sea on the left. There's a port.

We passed through this arch (it's a backward view).

There's a playground even here!

Of course, you can clearly see the city from the top! The port and the Roman theater are on the left. We are going to the right.

In the city center, there are some other excavations on the hill.

There's also some kind of antiquity far away!

Something is also being under restoration here. And you can see a red tower of a bus station far away.

To the right - there is an elevator by which you can get down right here.

We are going further.

We complete the circle and come to an observation deck.

There is a new theater at the bottom.

There is Cartagena port on the left and the ancient Roman theater on the right, from which we started our walk.
