Star Princess is a Grand-class cruise ship, operated by Princess Cruises. Star Princess is a sister ship to Grand Princess and the Golden Princess.

An earlier ship of the same name is now operating as Columbus in the Cruise & Maritime Voyages fleet. Star Princess was built by Fincantieri in Monfalcone, Italy in 2002, and has hull number 6051. Star Princess differs slightly in upper deck layout from her predecessors, having an extra plunge pool (and one less hot tub) at the stern (deck 15) and with the deletion of the "Off Limits" teenagers' hot tub & sunbathing area featured further forward on her predecessors.

At the end of 2017, Star Princess underwent a two-week dry-dock. Many of the onboard public spaces were redesigned and updated.

Another ship of similar design, Caribbean Princess, was subsequently built, featuring an additional deck of cabins ("Riviera Deck") to accommodate more passengers.

Ports of call

Star Princess currently sails out of Los Angeles to Hawaii in the winter season and to Alaska from Vancouver and Whitter during the summer season. Until Spring 2014, she sailed from Los Angeles to Hawaii, Tahiti & Samoa in the winter and from Seattle to Alaska during the summer. From 2014 to 2015, she sailed eleven-day Alaska cruises from San Francisco (replacing Grand Princess, which relocated to Seattle for that summer) and to Mexico and Hawaii during the winter season.

Currently the Star Princess is sailing from Vancouver, BC, Canada to Alaska.

In 2019, Star Princess will continue to operate the West Coast sailings from Seattle and Vancouver.

Future

On 22 August 2018 it was announced that Star Princess will transfer to the P&O Australia fleet in late 2021, joining her sister ship, Golden Princess, which transfers to P&O Australia in October 2020.

Media

In the 2002, Hong Kong TV drama "Ups and Downs in the Sea of Love" take place on Star Princess.
