The island of Nevis.Tour. p.2

At 10 a.m. we sailed from the island of

St. Kitts

to the

island of Nevis

. Here, we took a tour, lunch break and visited the beach. At 2.30 p.m. we went back to St. Kitts.
Clouds always hung above the mountain of the island of

Nevis

. When Columbus saw this mountain with clouds, he decided that it was snow, and called the island 'Nevis' (snow in Spanish). This mountain is an active volcano and the last eruption happened 5 years ago; everything was covered in ash. It is possible to reach the top of the mountain, there is a route. Fruits and vegetables are grown on the island and there are also golf courses. In general, the island thrives on agriculture and tourism.

There is a volcano in the center.
The island is divided into five areas, each has a school and a church. The main sport is cricket. When the regions' students compete with each other, a real holiday begins on the island.

Approaching the pier.

Next, on the bus. We had a very interesting tour guide (he's in the white T-shirt with the green mountain graphic), he talked a lot and even sang to us about his friends.
There is a pelican!

We went around the island on a sightseeing tour.

Historical Museum of the island. Although the island is small, it turns out that Alexander Hamilton - one of America's founding fathers and first Minister of Finance - was born here.
The oldest church and school on the island.

Admiral Nelson used Nevis as a military base, he also married the niece of the governor of the island. There is a museum about Admiral Nelsonon on the island, in the house where he lived.
Here is their sign.

The island was very green.

This area has become totally overgrown with grass.

Abandoned cars became overgrown with grass immediately.

The island has a thermal spring. The hotel Bath House was built around it in 1778. It was a fashionable resort, and the rich and famous from all over Europe came here. Now everything is in ruins.
This is the spring. And tourists from our ship.

It looks like a breadfruit. Beyond, there was the old hotel Bath House.

We continued further.

To be continued...
