Annelies Marie Frank was born in Germany but lived most of her short life in the Netherlands. The little Jewish girl who wrote the well-known diary became one of the Amsterdam’s symbols, and a historic house dedicated to her life and her work is definitely worth a visit. Though her story is so sad and unfair. By the way, it’s better to book your visit to the Anne Frank House in advance because the queues sometimes are pretty long.

The Dutch Resistance Museum, or Verzetsmuseum, is deservedly considered the country’s best historical museum. Its exhibits describe the life of the Dutch under the German occupation during the Second World War. Everything in the museum is organized so realistically that you literally take a time travel. Get ready, because you’ll be really impressed.
