Underwater World of Sint Maarten

Today I'll show you the underwater inhabitants of

Saint Maarten

.

We were snorkeling mainly on

Maho Beach

, and once we got on Pinel Island, next to Maho.

Let's go! Or rather, let's swim :)

Here's a couple swimming on their business.

Here's the coral on

Maho Beach

Here are plenty of small fish - view from above.

This is a whole flock.

The main thing is not to step on this guy :)
6underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
Here's a very beautiful fish.
7underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
It seems this is the fish from the previous flock.
8underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
Here's the bottom, with algae, on Pinel Island.
9underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
It seemed to quickly move on to important fish business.
10underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
Here are striped ones.
11underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
This is a beautiful reef.
12underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
It's hard to take good pictures of fish from such a height. It is time to move from snorkeling to diving :)
13underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
This is a picture of algae.
14underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
These three dark spots are squids :)
15underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
And this is my love - trunkfish :)
To be specific, this is a fish from the Ostraciidae family, of the Tetraodontidae order. There are more than 20 species of them, so I do not know all their names.
There are trunkfish-cubes, trunkfish with horns (I call them fish-cows :)) and many others.

I was going after this one, on Pinel Island, but, of course, it swam away. However, I managed to get a picture of its back :)

Note the fish at the bottom.
17underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
Here's a sea urchin and a cute fish with a horn.
18underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
And here's another reef.
19underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
Of course, there were a lot of sea urchins.
20underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
Here's another school of fish.
21underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
This is another trunkfish - from Maho Beach.
22underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
It is the sweetest creature, which, of course, did not pose for me.
23underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
I was trying to do my best but didn't manage to take its portrait. :)
24underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
When you manage to dive a bit deeper, you get an opportunity to see what's going on under the part of the reef we see from above.
25underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
However, you have to observe such pictures more often. :)
26underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
Here are the next fish with the next sea urchins.
27underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
It was like swimming in an aquarium.
28underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
Here's the beautiful coral from Maho Beach again. We called it "the flower" - they are very similar, aren't they?
29underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
Here's another beautiful fish.
30underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
This is a flatfish, If I'm not mistaken. :)
31underwater-world-of-sint-maarten.jpg
I'm not very experienced in fish spotting in different parts of the world.
We had fun snorkeling in Malta, but the coolest, one in terms of the variety and brightness of fish, was in Egypt.
I am sure that you can meet brighter and more beautiful fish in the Caribbean than I managed to photograph.
So that is what to hunt for :)
