March 22, 2017 is going to become a milestone in the history of cruises. This is the date when Richard Branson’s Virgin Voyages will hold the official ceremony of the first ship steel cutting! Everyone will be able to watch this ceremonial event on FACEBOOK LIVE! We are so excited!

Establishment of the new cruise company was announced back in December 2014. Three of its first ships are already ordered for the construction by Fincantieri, one of the world's leading shipbuilders. Each ship will have a tonnage of 110,000 GT. The first vessel’s keel is secluded to be laid during Q4 in

Genoa, Italy

. This lady with a capacity of 2,800 passengers is going to be delivered in the year 2020, the 2nd and the 3rd ones – in the years 2021 and 2022 respectively.

It’s interesting to know that the company’s founder, Richard Branson, has never been on a cruise liner! He even doesn’t like the word “cruise”. This is one of the reasons why the original name “Virgin Cruises” was changed to “Virgin Voyages”. Despite the fact that Mr. Branson has never been on the cruise, he has already crossed the Atlantic. Moreover, he cracked the SS United States's record she set in 1952. Though the first attempt was not successful and his boat sank, Richard Branson's 72-ft powerboat, the Virgin Atlantic Challenger, beat the Atlantic speed record at a speed of more than 50 knots in 1986.

Richard Branson is going to revolutionize the cruise industry together with Tom McAlpin, the CEO of Virgin Voyages. Have you ever heard of sexy Virgin-style sailings? There are just a couple of years left to try this new type of cruise vacation!

The company pays great attention to pollution problems. In partnership with Climeon, it intends to “launch one of the cleanest fleet to sail the seven seas”.

Cruise world, get ready for Virgin Voyages! Because this company will change our understanding of the luxury cruise adventures!
